When a due date falls on a weekend, the CRA accepts it on the next business day — dates above are shifted for weekends. Public holidays can shift them further.

Never miss a CRA deadline

Late filing costs real money: the CRA's late-filing penalty starts at 5% of your balance owing, plus 1% for each full month you're late (up to 12 months), and interest runs on top. Most of that is avoidable with a calendar and a plan.

Every countdown on this page is calculated live in your browser. Want us to watch the board for you? Book a consult.

For most individuals, April 30. If you or your spouse or common-law partner carried on a business, the filing deadline is June 15 — but any balance owing is still due April 30.

60 days after the end of the tax year — usually March 1 or 2 — for contributions you want to deduct on the previous year's return.

March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15 for individuals who are required to pay by instalments.
