TFSA or RRSP? See both.
Compare what each account leaves you after tax, at your rate today and your rate in retirement.
Compare the two
The rule of thumb
If your tax rate is higher today than it will be when you withdraw, the RRSP usually wins. If it'll be the same or higher later, the TFSA usually wins. Equal rates? They come out even — and the TFSA's flexibility often tips it.
The 2026 TFSA limit is $7,000. The 2026 RRSP limit is 18% of last year's earned income to a maximum of $33,810.
